Advising

In this area of the site, you will find answers for common advising questions, help with degree planning, and the degree stream that's right for you.

The most common questions we receive are:

  1. How do I get admitted into Cognitive Systems?
  2. Which courses are eligible/ineligible for a COGS degree?
  3. Who do I talk to for advising?
  4. What if course requirements change after I start?
  5. What kind of jobs can a COGS student get?

Of course, you probably have other questions that you want answered. There are at least 3 ways to find help:

First: explore the website:

We have addressed the majority of frequently asked questions that we receive. In addition, the website contains all the course planning and stream information that you need.

Second: contact the Department

(For Computational Intelligence and Design stream advising, you MUST contact Computer Science Advising)

If you still can't find the information you're looking for, then you will want to contact someone who can help you directly.

General inquiries to UBC Cognitive systems can be directed to our director, Eric Vatikiotis-Bateson
