To properly view the pages on this site, you will need to download a font, "First Nations New," and make some changes in your browser's preferences.

To download the font on a PC, simply click on the PC link below. The file is compressed using the ZIP format.

Once you have successfully downloaded and unzipped the PC font file, drag the icon of the font itself (shaped like two T's) into the Fonts folder in the Control Panel folder (under Settings). This font should be accessible to any application that you open from now on. Check to see if it is working in your favorite word processor.

To download the font on a Mac, click on the following Mac link. It is compressed using the SIT format. Your browser probably comes with a decompresser (like Stuffit Expander), but if you don't have one, Stuffit expander can be downloaded here.

Once you have successfully downloaded and unzipped the Mac font file, drag it into your System Folder. The folder must be closed and all applications must be inactive. This should make the font accessable to all of your applications. Check to see if it is working in your favorite word processor.

You should be ready to go! If you have problems viewing the font, you can try making the following changes to your browser preferences:

Preferences in Firefox:


Open "Preferences" in the Edit menu. Under "General," click the "Font & Colors" button:
Fonts : : : Choose fonts for "Western." (Set all the fonts to "First Nations New.") Make sure the "Always use my Fonts " box is not ticked off.

Preferences in Internet Explorer:


Open "Preferences" in the Edit menu. Under "Web Browser" in the left hand box:
Web Content : : : Make sure that the following boxes are checked off: Show style sheets, Allow page to specify fonts, and Enable Scripting.
Language/Fonts : : : Set the default Character set to one of the several "Western" choices. (Set the Proportional, Sans-serif, and Serif fonts to "First Nations New." Do the same for the other "Western" character sets.)

Preferences in Netscape or Safari:


Open "Preferences" in the Edit menu. Under "Appearance":
Fonts : : : For the Encoding, select Western. Select the radar button which reads: "Use page-specified fonts, including Dynamic Fonts." (Set the Variable Width and Fixed Width Fonts to First Nations New. )
